You Are What You Eat
Ever wonder why organic food prices are higher than non-organic produce? For example, when shoppers go into the produce section of the store they see two parts, organic produce and non-organic. Non-organic strawberries are cheaper than organic strawberries. Why would the price differ if they are both the same strawberries? They may taste the same, but the non- organic strawberry have pesticide residue on it. Eating organic food is healthier than non-organic food, because organic food does not contain harmful pesticides, have a higher nutrient content, and does not contain genetically modified organism.

Compared to conventional milk, organic milk has higher levels of omega-3 fats, which protect against heart disease and may decrease the risk of depression, stroke, cancer and other diseases, but the quantities are too small to be very meaningful (Kluger, 2010).Throughout the years scientist have been studying and examining organic and conventional fruits, meats and vegetables. Studies have shown that organic chicken and pork were 33 percent less likely to carry bacteria resistant to multiple antibiotics than conventionally produced meat (Congro,2012). Although eating non-organic meats are nutritional to organic meats, there still is a concern because it is being produced from an animal that was given antibiotics and hormones. Eating non-organic meats can affect your body. Antibiotics and hormones are given to beef cattle and can end up in the meat. This causes harm to the consumers' health because it can cause resistant bacteria strain and harm the bacteria balance in the gut. Hence, that eating conventional foods puts one at a greater risk of genetically modified organisms.
Furthermore, genetically modified organisms (GMO) altered forms of DNA species that are found in unrelated animals and plants. GMO's are harmful to the body. Herbicides found on conventional foods. Herbicides are used to kill weeds. Herbicides cause dysfunctions in the body. Also, high level of herbicide residue causes division cell dysfunctions that provoke the first stages of cancer. ("Organic Foods Vs. Gmo/Conventional Foods: An Infographic", 2012). Genetically modified organisms enter the body and cause it to not fully function.
Eating conventional foods puts humans at a risk considering GMO's are found more in conventional foods.
All things considered, eating organic is safer. Organic food is expensive, but it is worth buying. Unlike conventional foods, there is no harmful pesticide residue left...
