I. “A worldview, whether Christian or secular, is the unifying perspective from which we organize our thinking about life, death, art, science, faith, learning, work, money, values, and morals. A worldview is our underlying philosophy of life.” (as cited in Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p. 50) Basically, a worldview is the way you interpret everything that happens to you, around you, and the rest of the world.
II. In the Christian/Biblical worldview, and all other worldviews, there are five foundational questions that need to be answered for our beliefs to be justifiable. First is the Question of Origin, which is asking “why are we here and how did it happen?” Genesis 1:1 (King James Version) tells us that, “In the beginning, God ...view middle of the document...
This is basically asking “Why are we here?” For one, we were put here so that we may know God. (John 17:3 KJV) We were also put her to spread the word of God, even in the force of evil. (1 Peter 3:15 KJV)
The fourth is the Question of Morality; knowing the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. We are born sinners and can’t save ourselves. We just have to follow the word of God and do our best. “Psalm 51:5 KJV) Following Jesus Christ is the best way to have righteous morals. (Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV) The final question is the Question of Destiny. What happens after death? Revelations 20:11-15 and Revelations 21:1-7 (KJV) tells us that we will be judged, and based on how we lived; we will either go to heaven or hell. In John 15:1 (KJV) we’re told that followers of Christ reap rewards, non-followers are cast aside into a “lake of fire.” It is all based on how we lived our lives and if we followed Gods commandments.
III. The Christian Worldview influences me to treat all people and living things to be treated the way I would want to be treated. Nothing deserves harsh or mean treatment, and no one deserves to get cast aside. When it comes to people I try to be nice, even if I’m not in a good mood. I shouldn’t take my problems out on other people, and I try my best not to. When it comes to the environment, we were put here to take care of it, not take advantage of it. Animals are the same way. They can’t take care of themselves, well, some can, but others need help. They definitely do not deserve to be mistreated. Treat everything the way you want to be treated, that’s how I try to live my life.
