In this essay on World Religions, the reader will learn about two different religions. The first religion that the reader will learn about is that of the Roman Catholic religion. The reader will learn about some of the beliefs, holidays, and traditions of the Roman Catholic Religion. The second religion that I will cover will be that of the Hinduism religion. The reader will learn about some of the aspects of this religion as well as how the Hinduism religion compares and contrast to that of the Roman Catholic religion.
Roman Catholic
For the Roman Catholic religion, I interviewed a lady from the local Catholic Church in my town. I was unable to ...view middle of the document...

One of the challenges is that women who are Catholic are not supposed to use any form of birth control. The Catholics believe there are different ways to teach women how to not conceive without the use of condoms. The Catholics believe a woman can have sexual relations and not get pregnant naturally. The challenge with learning the ways of birth control naturally is the women have to stick with it and not stray away to the other temptations. Another challenge of practicing the Roman Catholic religion is that some people have different beliefs. One of the beliefs that some people do not agree on is the priesthood. Men are the only people who are allowed to become priests in this religion and some people believe that women should have the opportunity to become a priest if they felt like they wanted to. For Carol, one of the challenges is Mass on the holidays, Sundays, and by the church’s schedule. This is a hard task for her because she has medical problems but also it can be a difficult task for anyone because they are spending most of their time in the church. People cannot spend most of their time at church because they are obligated to do other things that might consist of work, attending to the sick, or have personal issues to attend to.
The next question that was asked was what does the rosary mean to the Catholic Church? The answer that I received from Carol was that the rosary is a prayer from the blessed mother. The Catholics meditate scriptures of gospel with the beads on the rosary. Every prayer that is done with the rosary is based on scriptures from the bible. As I done research on the internet, I learned that according to Catholic Answers (2008),” the rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary. It consists of a set number of specific prayers. First are the introductory prayers: one Apostles’ Creed (Credo), one Our Father (the Pater Noster or the Lord’s Prayer), three Hail Mary’s (Ave’s), one Glory Be (Gloria Patri).” The last prayer to be recited with the rosary is the closing prayer. The closing prayer is called the Hail Queen (Salve Regina) which is also sometimes called Hail Holy Queen. The closing prayer is the most commonly recited prayer in the praise of Mary.
The next question that was asked in the interview was why is the Virgin Mary important to the Roman Catholic religion? The way Carol had explained it was that Mary is the mother of Jesus and that she is our mother as well. She had explained that our biological mother is important to most people and you would not disrespect your own mother. If you have much respect for your own mother and that she is important to you then in the same sense that is how the Virgin Mary is to their religion. The Virgin Mary is an important part of their religion because she is the mother of us all and that they have respect for their mother.
The next question that was asked to Carol was if there were any things that were frowned upon in her religion. She began telling me basically...
