624 words - 3 pages

You can either use Mac OS on a Macintosh, or you can also install Windows OS on it. Mac OS and Windows are the two most popular operating systems for computers known to beings. The rivalry among the two is much older than you can imagine. It all began when Apple released Macintosh in 1984, and Bill Gates released Windows in the following year. This is when the computer generation was born and door to technology opened. Since then, we are bombarded with information comparing one operating system to another. Frankly, these two operating systems have much more in common than they do in difference. Each has its own set of pros and cons, but they share many of the core features that define a computer operating system in a modern era.

Malware and spyware are a setback for Mac users, just as much, as they are for Windows users. Mac and OS also support common gaming engines. I myself have witnessed games performing equally well being a user of both operating systems, despite the fact that Mac doesn’t have a good reputation as a gaming platform.

Windows has its own boons. Windows low cost being the foremost one. It has a variety of different programs available because it is a part of the mainstream operating system. It also offers much more room for customization as compared to a Mac. Much more widespread use of windows gives it an edge, because people tend to adapt to changes very slowly. Syncing devices is simpler in windows, as compared to Mac, with the exception of iPhones. It has also been proved to be a better platform for music production.

On the other hand, Mac has its own perks. One of them, which leads, is the collection of multi-touch gestures. In the era of identity theft, the hard disk encryption feature offered in Mac is very useful for securing personal information, thus this factor plays and vital role for users in decision making. It is also fairly quicker than windows, so is its boot time compared to Windows. Mac also offers better graphics, which is why the designers appreciate it. Last but not the least, you get a free update whenever a newer version is launched, while it’s the opposite with windows where you have to pay handsome amount for it.

Should you install Mac OS? Should you use Windows OS? Honestly, it doesn’t matter. The purpose of technology is to facilitate individuals, no matter in which part of the world they are in. All things considered, the choice between the two products solely depends on fashion, tastes and needs. Because both of them get the jobs done in one way or another.
