Why WW1 broke out in 1914.
A world war is when all continents in the world are involved in one war. On the 28th of July 1914 the First World War was declared. There were different and more complicated causes to this war and a final trigger that set it all off.
One cause was the rivalries in Europe. This was Britan vs Germany because of them both wanting to have the most ships in the navel race. Another reason was because Germany was jealous of Brittan’s big empire. Then you had France vs Germany this dated back to 1870 when a previous war involving the two countries had took place. Germany won the war and annexed a piece of France called Alsace and Lorraine since then France never forgot about this and plotted for revenge. Finally you had Austria vs Russia this was ...view middle of the document...
In WW1 there were two main alliances which were the Triple Alliance made up of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy and Triple Entente There was Russia, France and Great Britain. These were important because they meant that some countries had no option but to declare war if one of their allies declared war first. This is called a domino effect, it can turn a local crisis into a European even world wide as it did explosion! These causes above are long term causes of why WW1 broke out.
Another cause was the Schlieffen plan that ended up mixing with the Treaty of London. This was Germanys plan on how they could attack France through Belgium and then go back to fight Russia. This led to war because in 1839 a signed agreement was made to protect Belgium if she ever was to be invaded it was called the treaty of London, Britan signed this contract. So when Germany went through Belgium its big sister Brittan had to come and help her. So Brittan had then sent war with Germany along with four other countries that signed up.
Finally, the trigger a short and immediate cause of WW1. On the 28th of June 1914 the Archduke of Austria and his wife were assassinated by members of the Young Bosnians. This assassination caused war to be declared. Serbia was blamed by Austria because of the murder because they gave them Young Bosnians weapons to kill the Duke. Then Serbia called on her traditional protector Russia so then Russia had to also fight Austria who were apart of the Triple Alliance witch meant that all the countries had to get involved.
In all I believe there was many different reasons why WW1 broke out. Long Term causes as well as immediate ones. I think if countries did not have alliances it would not have broke out to this because all allies done was make countries help fight even if it had nothing to with them.
