“WHY COLLEGE EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT TO ME”
ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SKILLS
WRITING ASSIGNMENT 5_06
My daughter just graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Science, Community Health Sciences, and Emphasis on Health Promotion. My daughter is now working on hers Masters and the future looks bright for her. I can’t express how happy and proud I am of her and her achievements at such a young age. I scarified financially so she would have an education without the financial burdens that follows. I realized that I would be taking on additional financial responsibilities if I decided to complete a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management. One of the reasons, a very important one, is the financial comfort the college education brings. College Board’s (2010) study documents that, “the typical bachelor’s degree recipient can expect to earn about 66% more during a 40-year working life than the typical high school graduate earns over the same period.” By getting my college degree, I will be able to increase my income and support my family. I completed over 23 years of service with the US Air Force and realized it wasn’t enough to be recognized as one of the best in my field. My experience and education was enough to be a team member, but not enough to manage the team. I now have purpose, a goal, and something to look forward to. I want to finish my college education in Information Technology Management. If it’s GOD’S will, I plan to continue my education as long as I have the time, energy, and the means to. This decision has already changed my life in such a positive way. Moreover, it will provide me the confidence and the solid knowledge to communicate with other professionals in the same field. I will be respected and appreciated more. It will also help me keep pace with the ever changing technology and communication platforms.
Above all, by obtaining my college degree, I will be finally...
