The Computer Doctor Center, aimed directly at stores such as radio Shack and CompUSA, will repair computer and install software. Selling computer is not a new activity in Wal-Mart. It does in its 1,400 o its about 3000 U.S. year round. The first 10 opened Computer Doctor Center is like a test for Wal-Mart to see how customer will react before making any decision about expanding the Computer Doctor Centers concept. Wal-Mart hasn?t integrated Computer Doctor Center in its web site, but analysts see future links. Wal-Mart is also testing kiosks in several stores that let customers order computer and accessories that are delivered to their home.It is expected to roll out a new Internet shopping. Wal-Mart is really interested about Computer Doctor Center because of the amount generated by the Computer Doctor Franchise Systems Inc. Its 38 stores make $10 millions in annual sales. The Computer Doctor Center will be identify by a specific sign and staffed by four employees, two of them will be technicians. The new Wal-Mart item could pose a major competitive threat to electronic retailers such as Radio Shack and CompUSA. But they have a competitive edge according to the Vice-President of the former and the spokesman of the latter. General retailers have struggled to sell computer because the profit margin have razor thin, trained salesperson hard to retain and managing the fast changing product inventory is difficult.B) COMPANY ANALYSIS Wal-Mart is a retailer which Industry sector is Discount and Variety Stores. Club, named in honor of founder Sam WILTON, is a membership warehouse operation. 1988 Wal-Mart opened the first of the several Wal-Mart Supercenters, which combined general merchandise and grocery. 1998 first Neighborhood Market opened at Bentonville. Wal-Mart is now an irresistible (or at least an unavoidable) retail force that has yet to meet immovable objects. Bigger than Sears, Kmart and J.C. Penney combined, it is the world # 1 retailer with more than 4150 stores including discount stores (Wal-Mart), combination discount and grocery stores (Wal-Mart Supercenters and ASDA in U.K.), and membership-only warehouse stores. Most of the stores is in U.S., but Wal-Mart is expanding in Canada, Mexico, South America, Asian and Europe. Today Wal-Mart employs more than 1 million people.
