The moral issues surrounding the consumption of meat has been the definitive motivating factor for many vegetarians. Religious beliefs are at the center of thesemoral issues since diet has long been a topic of religious teachings. Though guidelines and characteristics are modified a connection between the spiritual self and the physical state remains constant. Physical purity, associated by many religions with vegetarianism, to a certain magnitude has meant spiritual growth.Dietary guidelines for Hebraic tradition begin when all foods except fruits, nuts, and seeds were forbidden by God. Reincarnation, the belief that the soul does not die but instead leaves the body only to be re-embodied , is a staple in eastern tradition making the intentional killing of animals a terrible transgression. To kill an animal is to totally disregard the one-ness of all beings along with being misled by apparent separateness.Though these ideals may seem foreign to a Western train of thought these beliefs are notvery differnent from our own. The conviction of a universal love and kindness to all creatures, taught by Judaism and Christianity, is indeed the underlining element. For to kill an animal is in essence to kill man or even God. For it is Divine Life that the eastern religion has reverence for, and in knowing that just as he will learn the lessons of life so will the soul occupying the animals body. Therefore animals are truly our brothers.Vegetarianism is most commonly known throughout the areas of China and Japan, both of these countries have for years been Buddhism strongholds. Moreover, meat can contain substances that can be harmful to the human body. For example meat is very susceptible to bacteria along with the antibiotics that are often injected into it.Another factor is the fact that animals like humans eliminate waste products from tissues and cells to the surrounding blood. When an animal is murdered waste material at this point remains intact. By consuming these materials that should be excreted a meat eater adds unnecessary stress on their own organs of elimination. Polluting the system with additional animal waste wears and tears on the five organs of elimination. This allows your-lungs, bladder, kidneys, sweat glands, and liver to become overloaded increasing the chance of developing several diseases.Granted that unlike fruit and vegetables, meat begins to decay the moment the animal dies while the deterioration continues through the processing, packaging, and transportation to market. Immediately after slaughter the meat is moved into cold storage where it is aged for a period of time to make it more tender. Consequently, the meat is stored in this warehouse before being sent to the butcher where it sits until the unsuspecting customer orders it, prepares, cooks, and eats it.One such story starts in 1986 with a predominate meat processing company, Cattle King Packaging Company out of Denver, Colorado.
