Using an organisation of your choice write a report that explains how the company seeks to deliver customer value.
This report will be explaining how Tesco Plc seeks to deliver customer value, through objectives and strategies they have in place to try and deliver customer value, and also improving the relationship between them and the customer.
Tesco was founded in 1919 when Jack Cohen began to sell groceries from a stall in East London. The name Tesco only became known in 1924, and the first store was open in 1929 in Burnt Oak, Edgware, North London. Another way Tesco try to achieve their objectives is “developing the talents of its people through sound management and training practices” ( By improving their personnel Tesco can improve their services, through staff having greater knowledge and expertise, so the customer will have more benefits shopping at Tesco, therefore creating more value to the customer. Tesco also try to achieve their objectives by “meeting the needs of customers by constantly seeking, and acting on, their opinions regarding innovation, product quality, choice, store facilities and service” ( Through doing this, Tesco are able to improve their products and services to react to the changes in customers’ needs and wants, therefore able to deliver a greater shopping experience to customers, and giving the customer more benefits and a greater value to shop their instead of a competitors store.
Tesco is one of the world’s largest food retailers, but since the have diversified into the non-food markets such as electrical, financial services, homeware they have become a dominate force in other areas as well. They have “the widest range of any food retailer including the leading own label range” ( Through seeking to deliver customer value, and constant improvement to already existing products, and developing new products, they have increased all ranges not just their food range, in order to answer customer needs and wants. Tesco deliver a greater value to their customers, through monitoring customer satisfaction, and creating and developing products with the customer in mind. Many of Tesco’s ranges have been created in order to target market sectors that previously were not getting targeted, or to answer a change in the customers’ demands. In the food range Tesco have many different ranges, like their Finest, Value, Fair Trade, Organics, Wholefoods and Healthy Living ranges. All the ranges are there to target different markets of customers, an originally set-up to answer customer demand. Although some ranges might not be that profitable, the appearance of Tesco being responsible and responsive to food trends is of greater benefit to them. This will build a relationship with the customer, because it shows they have the customer in mind when developing and creating products.
Tesco seek to deliver customer value, through making their products attractive to their target market, guaranteed quality of a product of that the customer will be satisfied, affordable to the customer, and also available for the customer to purchase. Tesco have many different brands throughout the various ranges they offer.
