Staff should also work under RIDDOR reporting all dangerous diseases to outside agencies, any breaks or fractures that happened within the work environment. Therefore if there is an outbreak of D+V is can be controlled and eradicated quickly and efficiently. This goes along side COSHH, this is keeping all substances that can be hazardous to health away from from people who are vulnerable, adequately labeled and locked ina secure place , this reduces the risk of someone getting hold of it and causing injury to themselves.
2) Understand how o respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person ahs been abused or harmed.
2.1 Describe the possible signs, symptoms, indicators and behaviors that may cause concern in the context of safeguarding.
Children mature and develop at diferent rates and what may be usual for a younger child may not be normal for an older child. However if a child is acting and looks at lot older or younger than their age there may be cause for concern. If a child is not progressing like they should and does not have a learning disability or a medical reason this may also be cause for concern.
As said earlier we would expct different things from children and young people of different ages. I will outline a few factors that may be cause for concern leading to safeguarding
Children under 5 may not respond to their parents being with them or away form them, they may not become upset when their parents leave or show happiness or joy when the parents return. This may also show, when they are hitting milestone such as talking and walking. They may not reach the milestone or reach it late with no medical reasonwhy. Also they may appear under weight however when they are given food they eat very well, these would all cause concern.
Children who are between 5 and 11 can become secretive and not want to share information with their friends or teachers. They school work may change and may start to arrive late for school or not want to go home at the end of the day. They may not want to play with other children and refuse to have their friends to their house after school. Parents may show little interest in their children’s school work and behavior and may not attend parents evenings etc. The child may not be able to go on school trips and does not hand in homework when asked. Children may also still wet the bed at night.
Young people who are 11 to 16 may start drinking heavily from a young age. They may be concerned about younger siblings for no apparent reason and will not share why they are worried,. They may miss school and be disruptive and challenging when in school, they may not wish to take part in sports as they do not want to change in front of...
