1. Discuss the cultural differences, risks, and difficulties of working in Poland compared to the U.S.
Culture is the most influential factors in the human life which have deep impacts on the personal behavior. Here in this case same things happen where two different culture believer clash with each other in the working place. The cultural system in America is more focused on individualism. Due to those factors American people work hard to climb up in the upper position in the work place therefore they thrive in any types of work environment and anywhere in the world. Hofstede’s and the 7d cultural dimension models explains the cultural differences noted in this case are based on the individualism, power distance, orientation, collectivism and personal,. American people focus on their own as individualism to move forewords in the right direction where as Polish culture divert themselves to the groups where they perceive success and failure in the company as personal. Polish people culture is very traditional where they preferred to have older manager and fell very uncomfortable to work with younger manager where power distance affects the working style.
They believe that older people have more personal experience than the younger one where America culture opposes that believes. American believes that any individuals who have proper skills, knowledge and ability can be a leader in the organization. The Americans culture prefers to reward knowledge with higher positions that can lead to uncomfortable assumptions for the Polish people. The rules and policies of the company should be changeable to help overcome the orientation problems that encountered in such companies. The major factors of the organization culture should be gradually replaced with the long term orientations of perseverance.
3. Analyze institutional explanations for how the Polish workers react to U.S. management style.
Polish were very proud to work with their American counterpart because they think it is the life time opportunity for them to learn American business expertise. However due to the cultural differences between them and American worker they were not complying fully with their guest working patterns where their reaction were negative rather than positive towards U.S management style.
U.S management style allows people to be a manager who have proper experience and knowledge in their fields where Polish want to be a manager quickly without those requirements. Polish management style accepts the manager or supervisors older than their age and they fell uncomfortable to work with the younger one which was totally against U.S management style and their reactions were furious against it. U.S management style allows people to have privacy on their salary issues where they did not feel good to expose the amount between their co-workers.
However polish workers wants to compare their salary between them in order to know they are getting more, less or equal amount than their other workers. Therefore, their reactions were unhappy towards American management style. If I knew that the persons who work together with me had a higher salary than me.
