Troubles of a Hip Replacement
When I was 12 years old I shattered my hip. While at gymnastics one day I was learning how to do a double back handspring back tuck. I had tried about 20 times before I said “I’m just giving up!” My teacher came up to me and asked me to try one more time. So I gave it one more try. When I was coming down to land, my hip popped out of place and as I landed it shattered. Hurting my hip has changed my life, family bonds, and ...view middle of the document...
My family was changed dramatically because of my injury. My mom and I have never really gotten along so she had my dad take off work to stay home with me. Therefore she had to take on a second job to keep the house functioning. We started having some troubles with money so after a couple of weeks passed; my dad had to return to work.
Ever since my surgery, my life has been really complicated. All throughout High School, it has been really hard to stay in any sports. My freshman through junior year I was a Belton Pirate Cheerleader. When my boyfriend Brennon and I got together we both decided that it was a good idea if I quit so that I wouldn’t have any further injuries. Starting off my senior year, I hope to get more exercise to help give my hip more flexibility to possibly later becoming a Seattle Seahawks Cheerleader.
My hip replacement changed me in the areas of my life, family bonds, and having surgery. To this day I am so thankful to see that I really do have people in my life that care about me. Brennon and I have been together 5 months now, and I just want to say thank you for everything he has done for me. Just remember that when the going gets rough, “Keep on Keeping’ on!”
