Total Quality Management or TQM is a business strategy or system driven by customers, profit orientated, and people-centered (Richards, 2012). TQM is defined by its continual improvement, which is focused on the development of the processes and quality of the product. Quality is defined by the degree of excellence (Padhy, 2013). The primary focus of these standards is to establish requirements for any business to ensure the product produced meets customer requirements. Different variants of ISO standards exist such as ISO14000 which focuses on environmental responsibility and ISO/TS 16949 which focuses on automotive quality standards.
How can the total quality management program and ISPO improve your organization? When TQM is implemented and planned accordingly, TQM will substantively provide the financial benefits that a business needs. The primary focus of this program is to improve customer satisfaction. When companies take its clients into consideration and the client is its primary focus, it is inevitable that there will be a success in achieving customer’s needs. Does this mean that all clients will always be satisfied? The answer is “NOâ€, but; the customer will almost always be satisfied when a company meets his or her expectation. When a consumer seeks a service or a product, and the company delivers at a fair price and no problems, the company has built a solid relationship with its customer. When companies have a satisfied customer, they provide a powerful marketing tactic which is word-of-mouth. Three components that a business considers when implementing the TQM program are:
Understanding the customers and what they expect
Ensure that the company has the resources to deliver
Communication and delivering customer satisfaction to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings
TQM also improves a business on its effectiveness and efficiency. Although customers are important, they are only one factor. Business can also go broke when sparing expenses on customer satisfaction. Not only does a business focus on satisfying the client, but; the company should also have a plan that understand its operations and know how it will deal with internal processes. Businesses should focus on internal processes such as this:
Desired outcomes for its customers and how the process will align
The desired outcome and how consistently the process is
Process productivity and the resources used
TQM also provides stability for the company and provides long term assurance goals to be competitive. TQM is also utilized to understand how an organization runs as a whole.
Another plan that is used in companies is the ISO management system. Companies use the ISO management system to provide models when setting up operating systems. They are often results and benefits of a good practice. The ISO management system can be utilized in any organization. Active management systems provide businesses with:
Efficient use of company resources
Risk management improvements
Consistently delivering company promises for increased customer satisfaction
When utilizing the ISO management system, audits are a vital part of the approach. The ISO management system enables organizations to validate the effectiveness and achievements that the company has met. The importance of meeting...
