How do beliefs about the world and beliefs about what is valuable influence the pursuit of knowledge ?
The moment I was given this topic the first thing which came to my mind was the “Story of Buddha and Life Path of Gandhi” and questions related to their life. The so called once ordinary family man changed into Gautama Buddha inspired by few things which influenced his beliefs of the world and what is valuable to him. The purpose of the above statement is not to take sides or to claim which is right or wrong but just to highlight how belief about one single factor can influence the life path.
Change is the Only Constant
Also beliefs or views about what is valuable keeps changing based on one’s life experience. To begin with family or upbringing has lots of influence but individual acquires and moulds oneself about his /her beliefs based on critical incidents, social circle etc. It is said if we read the same book at different stages of life what we interpret is compelety different and everyone would have experienced the same too. Family and Cultural aspects of life I am sure has a lot to do this change too. By the virtue of becoming a father or mother a girl or a boy starts thinking beyond oneself and starts thinking for a common purpose called the kid. This removes self-thinking and an individual starts looking beyond and what is valuable till then to both changes and it goes on and on as a continuous process in life .
Acceptance of the Change:
The most critical aspect of life in acquiring true knowledge is the acceptance of the need for change in beliefs and what is valuable to succeed in this world .Individuals or system who...
