According to Bureau of Labor Statistics: Occupational outlook handbook (n.d.), “Medical and health services managers, also called healthcare executives or healthcare administrators, plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health services. They might manage an entire facility, specialize in managing a specific clinical area or department, or manage a medical practice for a group of physicians” (What Medical and Health Service Managers Do). When the time comes, and I am a health care manager, I hope that I am organized, well planned, able to control, and most of all a very good leader. I want employees to like working for me. I want to be approachable. I want my employees to respect me and feel as if they are able to accomplish any task because I have helped structure them in some form or another.
Conclusion
In conclusion, a successful manager is one that is organized, in control of their surroundings, provides excellent leadership skills, able to manage their time wisely and be available when needed, and has a well-rounded personality. When a person is contemplating becoming a health care manager, it would be in their best interest to evaluate themselves to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Once this is done, then they can focus on their weaknesses and hopefully become the best managers possible.
