The latest technology can be seen on sales floor and in offices. Innovations in technology have improved operations at companies of all sizes and helped turn small local businesses into global businesses. Coming from the state of Maine, a retail store Laurie Rodriguez used to work had more than 200 retail stores in the New England area.
Working in retail, one must expect the same from each store and to mainly focus on Customer Service. The marketing/research analysis, is one of the most important parts of the technology we have. The market research includes analysis of customer targets, demographics, “Technology has freed small businesses from the restrictions of prints ads when it comes to reaching new and existing customers. Internet marketing ranges from a simple informational website, to advertising on search engines, to online product sales. Email marketing is an effective and low cost method to reach a large group of people with a newsletter, coupons or business updates. Mobile marketing is a relatively new frontier that reaches people through text messaging, advertising on mobile applications and offering branded applications that tie customers into what is happening with the business in a fun and entertaining way” (Kooser, 2011) .
The company is very productive, and they make sure every customer is content before leaving the store. Productivity is about not wasting time; to effectively manage what time persons are on the job, and this helps me perform my job better and if the time is closely observed. The more time for a customer, it shall keep the customer satisfy, which is a guarantee to improve the business., “Small businesses need to wring every ounce of productivity out of their operations and technology tools help employees get tasks done more quickly. This may range from printing out marketing materials to providing customer service through email or online chat. The key is to keep employees focused when using technology and to use it appropriately with the goal of saving time. Sometimes, a phone call may be more efficient and productive than an email. Provide employees with the right hardware and updated software to keep them working at peak proficiency” (Kooser, 2011) The department has something my boss will call a “meddler,” it is just an electronic device where it is upload and lists daily tasks to be complete, for the people working in my department. When tasks are complete, an employee checks off everything done and sends the information back to the boss, she or he will send a copy to the district manager, and he or she checks to make sure everything is complete. The use of new and advanced technologies has brought my business that much closer to our customers. We can send emails to inform customers of new products, send them a copy of our current ad and some of the best feature inside, and the chat sessions that is to assist customers with purchase, questions, or just a general inquiry. We have all the latest updates on our equipment. So if a customer calls and wants an answer fast, we have the latest equipment to get the information to the customer, and keep him or her happy.
