The way the CQI elements are helpful in a health care setting is it facilitates all staff members/clinicians having a role in the success of the institution. Facility wide each person’s knowledge and skills can be nurtured or groomed in a way where he or she feels that they are making a difference in the company. The continuous improvement in the quality of care is detrimental to the success of the facility.Sources:McLaughlin, C. P., & Kaluzny, A. D. (2006). What are the structural elements of CQI and how can these elements be used in a health care setting? |
The structural elements of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) are useful in the health care setting also. The structural elements are process improvement teams, the seven CQI tools, parallel organization, organizational leadership, statistical analysis, customer satisfaction measures, benchmarking, and redesign of process from scratch. Structural elements are used to help with organizing and supporting the efforts to help an organization improve on a continuous basis. Process improvement teams are put in place to deal with known problematic areas aggressively. The seven CQIU tools are “flowcharts, cause-and-effect diagrams, histograms, Pareto charts, run charts, control charts, and regression analyses,” (McLaughlin & Kaluzny, 2006). Parallel organization is also known as quality council and monitors all CQI activities and prioritizes the actions according to importance. Organizational leadership is important in the aspect that leaders must be effective in order for all processes to be carried out. Without successful and competent leadership a company is destined to fail. Statistical analysis is used to monitor a company’s processes and how effective may or may not be. Customer satisfaction can be monitored in various ways and is monitored most commonly by customer satisfaction surveys which are conducted by third party organizations. Benchmarking is used to identify “best practice in related and unrelated settings to emulate as processes or processes or use as performance targets,” (McLaughlin & Kaluzny, 2006). Redesigns of processes from scratch involves ensuring that the end result is satisfactory for clients, meets all quality requirements, and are up to standard. In cases where these standards are not met a solution must be found and implemented. These elements are useful in the healthcare setting because these internal perspectives help improve...
