Student Course Reflection Essay

726 words - 3 pages

Well the last 9 weeks have definitely been a trying experience for me. I can not say that I have given a full 100 percent in every week. This course has taught me how to deal with getting back into the whole college mix of things. I know that I will not be able to slack off in future courses, like I have in the two classes I have been taking the last 9 weeks because the work is only going to get harder and more stressful. Therefore, I would say this course has helped me understand how my future classes will work and how much time I will need to certain assignments. It has somewhat helped me to get out of my procrastinating ways and I know it will help me be better prepared for how I handle future course; which will ultimately help me reach the career goals I am trying to pursue.
This course and the topics I have learned during the last 9 weeks have helped me realize that my long term goals are ...view middle of the document...

I will be able to move up the ladder instead of staying at the same position and pay rate without an advanced education, like I have been doing for years now. I know the payoff will be big because it will allow me to provide for my family in ways that I have not been able to which will result in less stress and more happiness in my life.\
There are a few topics that were covered in this class that really caught my attention. For example, the effective time and stress management dialogs have helped me better prepare during the different weeks by teaching me how to manage my time by not procrastinating and by making a schedule of my assignments and when I want to get them done, by figuring out how much time it would take to do each item. By scheduling, it helped me realize that I need to set goals for both short term and the long term future. I learned that by setting deadlines I am able to reach my short term goals, thus, making more time for me plan my long term goals which will make it easier for me to adjust or change certain goals in case something comes up like an emergency, or I just want to change my career path. Though there are a lot more subjects I can write about, I will finish with saying that I never realized what critical thinking really was until I got into week 8. We have to think critically about a variety of subjects in our everyday lives whether we realize it or not. It is up to us to recognize what is true and what is not. We also need to recognize that there may be more than one right answer to any given question. It is just up to us to do the research and make sure we understand what we have read. If we do not understand then we need to question what we read until we understand it.
In closing, I would like to say that I have learned a lot more from this course than I originally intended. I have learned so much through doing all of the learnscape activities, discussion questions, and even in doing this paper. I even learned without realizing I was learning anything, which made it easier for me to get through this class, and I would like to thank you for that.
