July 20th 2011, the day my parents finally had time to take me to the beach. I had been begging them since May to take me, I can drive myself but I wanted to have family time. When you go with the family it’s a lot more relaxing. I needed to go to the beach and distract myself for a while, even if it was just for a day.
After arriving at the beach I looked onto the ocean; as the water was sparkling under the sun like never before. I saw humps of turtles peaking out of the waters, the shells going up, and then back down. But of course, my mom broke the moment by shouting over at me to pick up the phone. I had waited for this day for two months and it was ruined by one single ...view middle of the document...
As I started to walk towards her, I didn’t realize that I was stepping on runaway popcorn, spilled soda, and candies that were left behind. Everyone went to this cinema, they said that this cinema was the best - I guess they were wrong, or maybe they needed a new janitor. My shoes were sticky, wet, and unsightly. As I sat down, the movie was about to start, I didn’t see the previews so Erika explained everything to me. People were starting to shush us and giving us dirty looks signalizing that it was time to be quiet. So we sat there quietly and watched the whole thing with gasps, little giggles and a whole lot of screaming. When the movie was finally over, everyone started to leave. As Erika stood up to go, it was a signal for me to leave the plush chair as well, but as I started to stand up and walk away from my chair, my sticky shoes wouldn’t let me leave.
“Uh-oh…” I thought to myself.
“Iris, um… can you move?” asked Erika.
“I don’t think I can.” I said nervously.
“What do you mean you can’t? Wait. Did you step all over the spilled soda?” she asked growing more and more suspicious.
