The cheesecake Factory has an established code of ethics that is used to maintain the balance between the human aspect of ethics and the business success for Cheesecake Factory. Although there are many areas of the Cheesecake Factory’s code of ethical conduct is important, there are a few key areas of the code of ethical conduct that are of significant to The Cheesecake Factory. The first in Article IV, “Conflicts of Interest”. This says that an officer or a director,” Should avoid participating in any transaction or investment that conflicts with, or appears to conflict with, the interest of the company. This is an ethical key because a person who is in a position of leadership or management must be loyal to the organization, otherwise, all decisions that could be made are suspect as to the integrity of the choice, especially concerning money matters. As of recent years insider trading has closed the doors of many major companies.
There are some key steps that a company like The Cheesecake Factory can take in order to ensure the employees follow the code of conduct. One is to have a company compliance department. This department handles all disputes, violations, and investigations regarding violations that may have incurred pertaining to the code of conduct. They must be a specific department with designated employees that governs the entire company body and handle any issues that arise. Another step that can be taken to ensure the employees follow the code of conduct of the company is to have each employee sign the code of conduct handbook upon being hired. Once it has been signed give a copy to the employee and keep a copy in the employee’s file. This allows employee and the company to be on the same page from the beginning of the working relationship.
One way that The Cheesecake Factory can engage in socially responsive activities in the community is to donate food to local food banks or various shelters. Restaurants may have food that is not being used and being able to donate fresh, edible food to shelters will not only help the shelters and food banks but will also help the community that it is in. A second way that they can

engage in socially responsive activities in the community would be to help raise or donate monies for a local organization. This could be done through many type of ways but doing this allows the company to give back to its community. One final way that the Cheesecake Factory could engage in socially responsive activities in the community would be to engage in programs such as Toys for Tots during the holiday season. This is an excellent way of giving back to the community.
