It all started 38 years ago when Rollin King and Herb Kelleher got together and decided to starting a different type of airline on the simple notion: “If you can get your passengers to their destinations when they want to get there, at the lowest fares, and makes sure they have a good time doing it, they will be sure to fly your airline (Southwest Airlines Co., 2012, pg 1).”

Hebert Kelleher and Rollin King founder’s and leaders at Southwest Airlines are responsible for shaping Southwest’s organizational culture. Kelleher’s fun loving attitude and personality has been a huge influence on the culture of Southwest. Southwest’s employees, customers, and neighbors make the Southwest Family the Loving place it is today.

The type of leader that would be best suited for this organization is someone with same views and ideas as the people who started the company and be willing to improve the relationships with the communities the company serves. It can 0olny make the company better than it is and be even more profitable in the end.
