1- What resources will be required to facilitate the change?
Financial Resources- Some financial resources that Southwest can use may be to pay dividends on their stocks in order to attract investors. With more investors, they could expand their service to more cities, and even upgrade their fleet of planes with more modern technology such as Wi-Fi or televisions. They could also add newer, more efficient planes to their fleet, which reduce long term costs on maintenance. Southwest could even decrease ticket prices, while adding another fee its increasing the baggage fee just to attract more customers. Creative Thinking- Creative thinking is a great way to increase sales and have more experience for the airline. Maybe southwest as a company can come up with a way to handle the hassles of flying by instituting new more intuitive ideas that competitors don’t offer, increase the market strategies as reward programs, frequent flier programs.
Creation of new services -Offer more services such as in-flight meals, televisions, Wi-Fi, and beverages which are going to make our customers more comfortable. For our business customers, the point to point system with non-stop flights can get them to their destinations faster, which will make our company more marketable.
2- Describe the timeline for change with milestones.
Slow Changes Cause and Effects- Southwest should begin by raising enough capital through shareholders/investors, and ticket revenues to start establishing new hubs. With these new hubs, they will be able to offer more to a wider variety of passengers. By doing this they can generate more revenue, which is what is best for the company in the long run.
Feedback- Feedback is very important for many reasons, growth being one of them. There may be things that southwest does that customers do not like or are uncomfortable with. By receiving this feedback, they can institute change within the company almost immediately. It also helps set a vision for the company in the long run as we know how “word on mouse” can play a big performance in business nowadays, so the company knows where and what they want to be, and how they can plan on getting there.
