Senior Research Analysis Proposal
Social Security has been around since 1935, when Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. It is meant to provide financial aid to those of “old age” and the disabled. This is the topic I am going to be discussing because it is going to be affecting our generation by the time we could be receiving the benefits that are included with Social Security. I chose this topic because while I am paying for Social Security of others, it is on the path to be out of money by around 2035, which will mean that people ages 18-25 will not be receiving this. We are paying for older generations’ Social Security money, but we will not be getting any.

This information gathered will be helping everyone including the people paying now, the people paying later, and everyone that should be receiving these benefits now and later on in their life.
The problem with Social Security will be affecting everyone throughout the United States by an estimated 2035. The problem is currently stemming from the government and their mismanaging of our money that we are putting into this fund. The mismanagement of the money is going to deplete the funds before I will be able to receive benefits, and it will also not be around for when my kids will need their money. All of the money we are paying in right now will be a waste unless they change the way they manage it, and monitor the security of the fund.
This research is mainly targeted for my generation and the generation above me, because it will be greatly affecting us by the time we start getting older. I am reaching out to everyone that is able to receive social security in the future because if change isn’t made, then receiving this money will not even be possible. These people need to be aware of this big problem because it is their money that is being mismanaged. The audience of this paper will influence my research because I will be researching how it will be affecting a certain age group and so on.
My research will be consisting of mostly Internet data, as well as newspaper articles. Along with my Internet research, I am also going to email the Congressman’s office to obtain more detailed information on the current status of the Social Security debacle. I will be using words and phrases such as “social security mismanagement”, “irresponsible”, “social security crisis”, “cause of…” to help bring up information about the causes of this issue.
