When I first glanced over the criteria for this social media paper, I didn’t know there was a difference between easily obtainable information and social media? After initially reading the questions we should answer, I thought they were the same thing. Every time I searched for information regarding “easily obtainable information”, it was always linked to social media. So was I asked the same question twice or was I missing something?

A simple google name search may bring up quite a bit of information you may not want others to know. This includes yours and your family’s birthdays, where you work, your current and past addresses. Social media gives everyone the opportunity to be heard, voice their opinions on trending topics, and just speak about issues that are on their minds. It allows the average person to have a platform and ability to reach a multitude of others that they otherwise would be unable too. Through social media you are able to build communities and networks of people of similar interest and concerns. Through these communities there is a free flow of thoughts and ideas.
