Moreover, bank credit is an important factor in the financing of investment and growth. Therefore, regulators have a special interest in maintaining banking system stability (Hartmann et al., 2005).
Economic:
Jordan is considered as a bank-based financial system where banks play a major role in financing the economy’s activities (World Bank, 2003). The banking system in Jordan is unique as Jordan has two banking systems; the conventional banking system (commercial banks) and the Islamic banking system. Islamic banks offer banking financing and services in accordance with the Shari’a or Islamic laws.
Social:
Jordan faces a number of daunting challenges as it strives to address its development and reform priorities. These social challenges include a rapidly growing population, gaps in the quality of basic education, high unemployment, weak citizen participation in governance and politics, water scarcity, reliance on expensive, imported energy, gender disparities, and an influx of Syrian refugees....
