The first step of the project will be to provide a Joint Application Development (JAD) session where forums and debates can be addressed by personnel.
“JAD is a requirements-definition and software system design methodology in which stakeholders, subject matter experts (SME), end-users, software architects and developers attend intense off-site meetings to work out a system's details. JAD focuses on the business problem rather than technical details.” (iadisk.org)
The 5 step JAD phases will be utilized to mold the overall project. The first phase of JAD will be the planning portion. This is where personnel will conduct meetings to engage in information gathering and planning. The second stage will be the research stage where pertinent information will be looked upon to ensure they can be used for the project. The third phase will be the preparation stage. Here is where training, orientation, materials, and additional aids will be prepped for use in the project. The fourth phase will be the session stage where reviews will take place and assignments be given to personnel to resolve any issues that exist. The fifth stage is the finalization stage, this is where all information will be compiled, documented, signed off, presented with demonstration, and evaluated.
Another means that will be used to gather information would be the usage of surveys of users or clients. “A Survey will give a quick, statistical analysis of easy-to-understand results. Surveys have a greater chance of being bias free than some of the other methods used today and a good response rate is about 50%.” (Toolpack Consulting, 2001).
The scope of the project will be to combine the multiple systems and tools used by Riordan Inc. The cost, value, and benefits of the system will provide the type of performance the HRIS can produce. Choosing programs wisely and setting standards for customer service will aid in increasing the value of the HRIS. The main office of the company located in San Jose owns the Windows-based ERP license, which includes financial software, distribution, and manufacturing. No source code exists in the license and evaluations have been accomplished resulting in expansion to input implementation of the HRIS module into the system.
Once the project has reached its deadline, Riordan will provide a system that will decrease costs by having a universal system. This will eliminate personnel multitasking in the department due to an all-in-one system. Cost of the system will pay for itself eventually, redundancy in data will decrease and the system will have better efficiency. The system will also prevent loss of data, decrease corruption of job changes, attendance, and employee turnover.
The new HRIS system capability will be similar to the current IT infrastructure. The three-tiered approach is recommended to be implemented continuously. In cohesion, the HRIS requirements and features of the HR functions will be...
