The week two iLab will challenge you, as it has to do with sweeteners and obesity. Current research has shown that there may be a relationship between the consumption of sweeteners and the rise in obesity so, this will be an opportunity to examine that facts and develop an position.

Week 2 ilab
1. Select a sweetener: Splenda
I pick this particular sweetener because I find myself to use this when I need sugar, so I would I would like to find out more about it.
2. Explore the history of the sweetener (when it was developed, its composition). In 1976, Tate & Lyle scientists who were working with Q.E. College discovered Splenda. More specifically, scientist Leslie Hough and young Indian scientist/chemist Shashikant Phadnis uncovered Splenda. It was approved in Canada in 1991, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Splenda as a non-nutritive sweetener in 1998 and as a general-purpose sweetener in 1999.
