1. Introdução
A sociedade moderna vive atualmente paradoxos que atravessam a vida profissional e a vida pessoal dos seres humanos levantando questões que atravessam diversos quadrantes de funcionamento das empresas e dos comportamentos humanos. Nas empresas, subitamente e/ou finalmente questionamo-nos sobre a razão pela qual trabalhamos, quais os objetivos a atingir, se os lucros serão a meta final e se os fins justificam os meios. Os indivíduos na sua existência reconhecem cada vez melhores condições de vida em termos de condições de higiene e cuidados médicos, melhores condições de trabalho, mais fácil acesso aos meios de assistência social e formas de lazer. No entanto, entramos em batalhas, quase campais, para conseguir atingir os objetivos impostos que, de tão exigentes que se apresentam, tornam-se irreais e empurram os indivíduos para um conformismo que se pode tornar tóxico. Ao questionarmos ou ao constatarmos esta realidade, estamos obrigatoriamente à procura de novas definições de sucesso pessoal e profissional. O coaching surge ou é reinventado por pessoas que procuram desenvolver um percurso de mudança. É uma ferramenta que está apontada para onde o indivíduo quer ir e nos processos que está disposto a traçar para lá chegar. Estes processos na maior parte das vezes constituem autênticas descobertas e como tal um desafio ao pré estabelecido. O coaching é nos dias de hoje abordado principalmente como forma de intervenção nas empresas, quer a nível dos objetivos organizacionais quer dos objetivos do Executivo. No entanto, gostaríamos aqui de referir o importante trabalho que o coaching atinge na esfera do bem-estar individual. Será possível conseguir o equilíbrio entre bemestar organizacional e bem-estar individual? Será esta a equação do sucesso?
