Ross - SWOT Analysis
As a mutual fund manager, I will be going over some of the most common things that are evaluated when a company is considering investing in a business or not. I will be conducting a SWOT analysis for the company that I have chosen. Along with the SWOT analysis I will be identifying their internal and external stakeholders and what their needs are. All of the above items are key things that are what will help determine if the company is a good investment.
A SWOT analysis is an extremely beneficial tool in determining what issues a company has and what they need to overcome in ...view middle of the document...
• Meet customer needs on a local basis.
• Deliver an in-store shopping experience that reflects the expectations of the off-price customer.
• Manage real estate growth to compete effectively across all our markets. ("Ross Overview", 2012)
The clothes that Ross purchases are mostly the clothes that have sat on the shelves for too long at the main store. Most the time when they are sold, the tags are still on the clothes from the original store they were manufactured from. This gives Ross an advantage over the Deseret Industries which sells only used clothes and accessories.
Ross mainly focuses on only those clothes and accessories that are in style and fashionable at that time. By having new merchandise delivered almost daily to the store this insures that there is a new selection for customers to choose from. You also have the choice to have it shipped to the store closest to you. That way you can pick them up later and not have to wait in the long lines.
The general consensus with social media is that they have a bad reputation for their customer service at some of their locations. Not only are the complaints from customers but also from their employees, this certainly needs to be looked into. In this economy businesses can not afford to have issues with their customer service. There are other businesses out there providing the same product, the customers can and will just go somewhere else.
Because of the nature of the job and the customer service issues, there is a high employment turnover. This makes it easy for people that are looking for a job to find one, but hard on the business. Since they are always loosing employees, they are spending more time training new people. This time would be better spent on improving customer service issues.
One opportunity that Ross has is their equity. With this, they have the option to open new stores that will generate more revenue. “For 2012, we are targeting unit growth of 6% to 7%, with plans to open approximately 60 Ross Dress for Less Stores” ("Ross...
