ECOSYSTEM- IS A SPECIFIC PLACE WHERE LIVING THINGS INTERACT WITH NONLIVING THINGS.
HUMAN BEINGS, ANIMALS, PLANTS AND OTHER ORGANISMS ARE PARTS OF THE LIVING ENVIRONTMENT.
SOME PARTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT ARE NOT ALIVE. SUNLIGHT, AIR, WATER, SOIL, AND MINERALS, ARE PARTS OF THE NONLIVING OR PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT.
LETS FIND OUT HOW INTERACTIONS OF ORGANISMS WITHH ONE ANOTHER AND WITH THEIR ENVIRONMENT.
ROLES AND RELATIONSHIPS IN AN ECOSYSTEM
A community of plants and animals that live together are related in some ways. No organism can live alone. Neither animals nor plants can survive by themselves. Plants need animals and animals need plants. Both animals and plants need us as we need them. Human needs plants that serve the food and plants need human that produce carbondioxide in able them to survive.

Plants are the only producer in the ecosystem because it provides food for many animals and human.

EXPLANATION – All living things or organisms need food in order to survive. Plants and algae are organisms that can make their own food. They possess the green coloring called Chlorophyl in their leaves. They use chlorophyll to trap sunlight. Using the energy of sunlight, they turn carbon didoxide and water into food. This process of food- making is called “PHOTOSYNTHESIS “.
PRODUCERS- WHICH ARE MOSTLY GREEN PLANTS ARE ALSO CALLED “ AUTOTROPHS”.

FOR EXAMPLE IN A FOREST ECOSYSTEM, THE PRODUCERS INCLUDE TRESS, SHRUBS, HERBS AND VINES.
2.CONSUMERS- are the organisms in the ecosystem that feed on other organism, it depends to other organism.
For example : HUMANS eat plants to survive.

CONSUMERS ARE CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO THE FOOD THEY EAT.
1. HERBIVORES- are the organism that eat only plants. Like for example are cows, goats, carabaos and grasshoppers.

2. CARNIVORES – are the organisms that eat other animals.
FOR EXAMPLE:
SNAKES
FROGS
CROCODILES
3. SCAVENGERS – are the organism that eat dead animals.
For examples:
Crows and rat
feed on dead animals
DECOMPOSERS- are the organisms that eat dead plants and animals and their wastes.
For Examples:

* BACTERIA
* EARTHWORMS
* SNAIL

FOOD CHAIN- IS CONSIST OF SERIES OF ANIMALS THAT EAT PLANTS AND OTHER ANIMALS.
THE FOOD CHAIN STARTS WITH A PRODUCER. THE PRODUCER IS THE PLANT OR TREE , A GRASSHOPPER EAT LEAVES, BIRD EAT THE GRASSHOPPER, BIRD EAT OWL , RAT EAT OWL, THEN WHEN RAT IS DEAD THE PLANT WILL BENEFIT.

GRASSHOPPER – is the primary consumer because it feeds directly on the producer (plant). The bird is a secondary consumer because it feeds on a primary consumer. And rat is the PREDATOR.
PREY- AN ANIMAL HUNTED OR CAUGHT FOR FOOD.
PREDATOR- IS A CAPTURING OF PREY AS A MEANS OF MAINTAINING LIFE.
