The once strictly controlled industry has nowadays been liberated leading to massive growth. The advancement in the industry has taken root in zones where electronic gaming is rampant supplemented with so many urban casinos sprouting. With time, nations have managed to come up with laws concerning gambling as it was forming a way of life. The laws also served to create coherence with the business environment with different propositions being forwarded from different fields. Religious wise, some considered it wrong. Social wise, it was associated with some crimes such as stealing due its addictive nature plus murders. Economic wise, there were issues to do with the fear loss of the profits gained to over sea competitors since it was actually going online. The law thus was to establish a central position (Gerdner & Svensson 2003).
The reason why I chose to investigate on this topic is because I live near a shopping centre which has roughly 5 lottery shops and every time I visit the shopping centre, I see all 5 of them full of people sitting around the counter playing lotteries. Another reason is also because of the online betting ads that appear constantly on the screen when I am watching a movie or playing a game and especially when I am watching a live soccer match. These things make me think about these gambling acts that the Australians are doing and wonder if they know that it is wrong or they do it to just have fun or maybe they are addicted to it. I believe that this issue need to be taken seriously as it is becoming like a tradition or a part of the Australian culture and affecting the society, the economy and most importantly causing breakdowns in the families. Therefore I decided to investigate this topic.

My collected secondary information was taken from various internet websites which includes news and statistics, books, newspaper articles, journals and magazines etc. My primary information was taken through a survey. Some of the obstacles I faced were that I had limited number of survey I received from the lot that I gave out. However I had some quality answered surveys that was useful in my assignment.
