Reflection Essay

Topic: The causes and effects of the changes of the traditional male role. With the development of the society, the conventional man role has changed significantly step by step in many aspects, which is a serious and realistic issue for many countries around the world and it makes many people confused and worried. In this essay, the reasons of why the traditional gender role has changed would be talked about in two fields, the realization of the women and the appearance of the femininity and homosexual of the men. Besides, the effects on people after the change of male role would be presented clearly and logically, mainly in three angles, the workplace and society competition, the sense of ...view middle of the document...

In addition, women think some jobs are challenging, absorbing and more interesting and luxurious than staying at home and they are so proud of being a part of the large process of the history of the society. Besides, to some extent, women consider that they are not being treated equally in the same conditions compared with the men (Sarah, 2003). Furthermore, women are less likely to spend their spare time in socialization and the future development and sometimes they realize that if they do not work entirely they would be suffered from social isolation as they has a small social network and infrequent social activities, which cannot support them to survive in the society. The other cause of the change of the traditional man role may be the gradual appearance of the femininity and homosexual of men. As the study shows that there is an increasing rate of men who often display cross-gender personality traits and behaviors and in this way, the role of them must be changed as some of the men prefer to play a female role rather than play the traditional male role. Moreover, there are a variety of men called “Sissy” who are usually with a male acting in a feminine way and unsuitable feminine qualities, who tend to be considered homosexual (McCreary,1994). In this condition, the traditional man role is being affected and modified. At the same time, some effects would raise which was led to by the changes of the traditional gender role. One of the effects is the workplace and society competition (Garcia-Retamero, Müller, & López-Zafra, 2011). With the changes of the stereotype of man role, the female role can also be changed at the same time that means the women may share the same opportunity and position of the workplace with the men. Hence, the competition become more intense and fierce and it will give a heavy load to the society (Tiger, 2000). Additionally, the second effect I found is the sense of inferiority of the men. As the women can be in the same position as the men, it will raise the sense of inferiority of the man when female income is increasing and male one is declining which is happened nowadays (Tiger, 2000). For example, when a man who works as a househusband at home spend the money that is earned by his wife, he would feel shame and guilty as he thinks that this should be the responsibility of him but now his wife...
