Radio Script on the mysterious death of Edgar Allan Poe

On October the 3th, 1849, Edgar Allan Poe was discovered lying, semiconscious on the streets of Baltimore, delirious, confused and just moments away from death. To this day the cause of Poeâ€™s death remains a mystery, so oin me, Hannah Bradfield as we journey inside Poeâ€™s last few days on earth and try to determine the cause of his untimely death.

In early 1849, just two years after the death of his beloved first wife, Virginia Clemm, Poe proposed to Sarah Elmira Royster who lived in New York. Snodgrass immediately made his was to the famous Authors side, upon seeing him he was taken aback by his friends attire.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Poe was confined to a prision like room and denied any visitors. Dr. John Joseph Moran was Poeâ€™s attending physician and was the only person to whiteness Poeâ€™s last moments.
He reports that Poe was babbling incomprehensibly;

It is still unknown who this â€˜Reynoldsâ€™ was. Could he have been an unknown friend of Poeâ€™s? An enemy? Or even a murderer?
Amongst the suspected causes of Poeâ€™s death are; suicide, rabies, syphilis, hypoglycemia, however the two which are suspected most likely are alcoholism and cooping. Newspaper reports at the time read
