Part C: Online Business Expansion Project Scope and Estimated Costs

As discussed in Part 2 of this proposal, it was recommended that Prickly Pear Salon utilize the platform base of MagentoGo to build the website. This turnkey solution provides both setup and hosting for the website, and ecommerce capabilities (online store, shopping cart, and checkout) for a single monthly fee. For the monthly price recommended, MagentoGo offers 1000 SKU’s, 20 admin logins, website offered in 3 different languages, and 800MB of storage. MagentoGo also offers full 24/7 support services.
By using PayPal as a payment processor, which is included with MagentoGo’s platform, there is no setup fee nor monthly fee. There’s only a simple transaction fee based on amount of sales per month, and number of transactions. Customer payments can be deposited into Carols’ existing PayPal account, which can then transfer to her bank.
Lastly, it is recommended that Prickly Pear utilizes the use of GoDaddy.com to register its domain name such as pricklypearsalon.com. GoDaddy.com currently has a special 50% off its regular annual price, costing only $9.99 a month for a year’s subscription. This would have to be maintained and monitored. These costs recur on an annual basis.
The tables below list the estimated costs of implementing the online business expansion project, and the estimated monthly costs of operations and maintenance.
