Every year around Halloween the act of carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns always seems like a perfect idea, doesn’t it? For you, maybe, but for a pumpkin like me it hits close to home. If you could put yourself into my shoes, (if I could wear shoes) Halloween would be a dreaded time for you and your family. Humans snatching the innocent neighbors, siblings, cousins, or even parents and children of pumpkins from their home to poke holes in them? Horrible. Carving pumpkins is not right; children are taking the lives of pumpkins all over the world for one night of pleasure and most them don’t even know ...view middle of the document...
It seems like children these days obtain pleasure from poking holes in pumpkins and spilling out our guts just to fill us with a candle. These children are psychotic, arsonistic, crazy, and just disgusting. My family’s guts stuck in your fingers, and you’re laughing? It makes me sick. Kids say, “pumpkins are going to rot and die anyway!” but so are they so why not cut up children to put in front of our pumpkin patches every October?
I don’t think you actually know why you cut up pumpkins for October 31 every year, anyway. Is it to ward off evil spirits, is it because Stingy Jack didn’t pay his bar tab, or because he wasn’t allowed in Heaven, are you just really into Irish legends; or is it just because everyone else does it? Has your mother ever asked you, “If all your friends went and jumped off a bridge, would you do it, too?” The mass lancinating on pumpkins everywhere makes no sense and it needs to stop.
Carving jack-o-lanterns to put outside for Halloween may seem like a festive activity to do every year but think of the pumpkins, realize how wrong this fruit carving is. Put yourself in our positions and try to imagine the insanity and fear that runs through us for a whole month each year. Think of all the pumpkins that have come and gone out of my life because of the pumpkin carving humans do. Every jack-o-lantern you decide not to make is a pumpkin saved; a family saved from disaster.
