The program also helps students to develop effective communication and interpersonal skills which are essential in establishing positive employee or customer relations.

Nowadays, trainees have come across difficulties on the duration of their training, time conflicts when dealing with the training schedules and having a hard time traveling, which affects their image in the establishment. Minor issues of students like feeling uncomfortable with their staff house is one basis on how productive they can be during the training, it really affects their performance and their way of living at the whole training period. Another is regarding to workplace, trainees encountered difficulties on showing and performing their skills and some are lack of self-confidence, and also some student’s trainee experienced hard time working with their colleagues. And some working institution are unwilling to allow trainees to gain experience in all section of the department during the practicum is quoted as another issue.
Another minor issue was the student trainee misses his/her family and friend during the training which really affects their working performance through the training period.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Benguet State University, located at the heart of La Trinidad, Benguet, now offers Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management under the College of Home Economics and Technology (CHET).
Benguet State University started as the La Trinidad Farm School in 1916. After years of expansion of the services and improvement of facilities, the college was converted to a state university by virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 2010 signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos on January 12, 1986.
Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management is designed to develop Hotel and Restaurant Management graduates who are capable of exercising management skills applicable to hotel and restaurant management; train hotel and restaurant professionals who are able to carry out and respond to the changing demands of the hospitality industry and challenges of globalization; and develop graduates equipped with competences required of the hospitality industry. Benguet State University had its first batch of graduates in Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 2015 and currently had its second batch students on their on-the-job-training outside the locality.
As per required by CHED, graduating students major in Hotel and Restaurant Management undergo on-the-job training with required time of hundreds of hours. Perhaps, this would be a stepping stone for the practicumers to develope themselves to become prefessionals in theri own field of specialization and aquire new learning through gained experiences through trainings.
