Sexual harassment is a serious issue in society as a whole. Harassment can cause the victim to suffer a world wind of emotions and can also effect those close to the victim such as family members and friends. This paper will review the importance of research pertaining to sexual harassment, and also identify some of the variables that may be considered within the research.

Many variables may have contributed to the claim of sexual harassment. The offender may have made the report because the victim was seeking revenge for a comment the offender made, or because they were in a relationship and had a nasty break-up. The victim may have said something to encourage the unwanted attention, or was threaten about termination for poor job performance. Sexual offenders agonize for control over the victim’s mind and body. Alarming but true, women in leadership position provokes sexual harassment.
Claims of sexual harassment present many ethical dilemmas beginning with queries. Two questions to consider are was that behavior a form of sexual harassment and what is the next step after the sexual harassment has occurred. Business Ethics may interfere with reported cases of sexual harassment. How to handle the situation is the first issue of the dilemma for the victim, co-workers, and employer. The victim faces emotions of whether to report the offense, concerns about losing their job, and embarrassment issues. Co-workers are pondering whether they should support the victim, they too may lose their jobs, and face shunning from other co-worker and the boss. The employer has to decide who to believe, consider whether to investigate to matter and determine will they enforce punishment.
