Pharmacology
There are two major forms of drug administration: external and parental. The external form of drug administration is most common in a tablet form and its functions hold the form until it reaches the gastrointestinal tract and then breaks down into the blood stream (Doweiko, 2015). The route of distribution refers to how the chemicals are carried throughout the body (Doweiko, 2015).
After learning about the different classes of drugs, routes, and absorptions, I now am equipped with knowledge about the origin of substance abuse. I understand the struggle of quitting an addiction, whether it’s an addiction to a food or an addiction to a substance. I believe if an individual struggles with a drug addiction, he or she should ask for help. Once an individual is able to ask for help, their desire for change is recognized. I do not necessarily have compassion for those who are addicted to drugs because of the difficulty to stop.
There is no need to have sympathy towards an individual who choose to abuse substances and then become addicted to it. Instead of having compassion, I feel individuals should help build confidence and strength to say enough is enough. I have family members who abuse marijuana and alcohol daily, yet they have not searched help nor believe anything is wrong with their choices. Two specific family members I am referring to do not live their lives for Jesus, therefore I believe it is a sin...
