Therefore, there is increasing recognition of the need in the logistics industry. In response to the increased complexity of global supply chains, companies are developing innovative logistics programs and supply chain solutions for their Singapore based and South East Asia customers. Its superb location and infrastructure have enticed more than 300 international companies from over 30 countries to anchor their trading operations in Singapore. In addition, Singapore is under free trade agreements (FTAs). Investment guarantee agreements and avoidance of double taxation agreements make the city an appealing place to do business. Singapore logistics companies deliver strong value-added services and are quick to adapt and develop strengths to meet the needs of high growth overseas markets, which have led Singapore to become the preferred logistics and supply chain management hub for leading players across industries. Ranked first in a 2012 World Bank study on logistics services, Singapore offers world-class infrastructure and excellent connectivity, a base of leading industry players and customers, as well as thought leadership and knowledge in logistics and supply chain management.

1.2 Current employment market for graduates
With the rise of Asia as the new economic powerhouse, organizations are looking towards the region to expand their business. There is a surge of investments pouring in from the West and the Asian region needs to move swiftly to accommodate incoming interests. Therefore, with regards to the logistics industry opportunities in Singapore graduate job market, there are more opportunities in this industry than many other industries. The employment market in Singapore has sported a recent trend that employers have been hiring more foreigners. According to Ministry of Manpower (MOM) (Ministry of Manpower, 2013), statistics shows that there are a total of 1,296,800 foreign workers working in Singapore, who fill everything from construction jobs to white collar and service work. Singapore has a competitive and friendly environment for foreigners who like to work here. The nation has ranked first for having the best labour force and being the top Asian country for its quality of life (Sala-i-Martin, 2012). Other reasons that attract foreigners to work in Singapore include open recruitment policies, low taxations and a high standard of living. As for the local fresh graduate, it would be a relieved to know that entry-level positions are still available. According to Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang, there will be more than 30,000 jobs created this year, of which 6,000 will come from new investments coming into Singapore this year. MOM announced new rules that require employers to consider Singaporeans fairly before hiring Employment Pass (EP) holders. Firms with discriminatory hiring practices will be subject to additional scrutiny and may have their work pass privileges curtailed. These changes will reinforce expectations...
