Trait Model of Personality
Trait theory is a common practice for learning personality. A trait is considered to be a characteristic that explains the behavior and thought process of an individual. Trait theory focuses more on the differences between others. It also looks at the influence of our behaviors. Gordon Allport described the interpretation of an individual personality. Allport believed, “That a trait would predict which behavior would manifest with high frequency, with intensity, and over a wide range of situations” (Lecci, L.,2013). Allport presented the theory about personality by using the English language to describe the interpretation of individual personality. In ...view middle of the document...

I completed the Big Five Personality Test and I feel that most of my scores are pretty accurate. My score was in the midrange for openness but I do feel the actual number was a little bit higher than I expected. I do feel like there are certain areas that I am able to express myself creatively. A couple of those areas are baking and photography. While baking, I am able to design cookies of various shapes and sizes. I am also able decorate cakes with different colors, decorations, and themes. As far as photography, I am still learning the creative aspect of photography. There is more to photography than just snapping photos. Photography has many aspects such as proper lighting, exposure levels and different angles. I feel like I am pretty creative and do not mind be trying something new.
My conscientiousness was in the moderate range accurate. Like most people, I do try to exercise self-discipline and determination to achieve my desired goals. I tend to look at the long-term results as opposed to the short term results. I try not to overreact and be impulsive about most things in general. However, my results state that I am basically in the middle of the road as far as conscientiousness so it can go either way. I would say that I believe we all can get distracted if something we feel is overly attractive presents itself.
My extraversion score was on the low end. “Extraversion describes a person’s inclination to seek stimulation from the outside world, especially in the form of attention from other people” (The Big Five Personality Test.com). Over the years, I have learned that I like being independent. I am focus more on me and my family as opposed to worrying about what the neighbors or my co-workers have going on. I have consciously tried not get caught up in making achievements such as promotions, receiving awards, or being the most popular person. Of course, we have goals and we want to be successful at whatever we may do but it should not define your life.
I disagree with my score in agreeableness. I score was low, which meant that I tend to put myself before others. In fact, I believe that I place others before myself. I do not see other people as a threat to get what I want. I see them as a threat, because most of the people I help take advantage of me. I tend not to open up to people because of this trait.
The Big Five Model has is made up of essentially five personality traits. The purpose of this theory is to describe the human personality. The first trait that I would like to discuss is extroversion. Extroversion is categorized as being excitable, talkative, assertive and emotional express. These people have no problem telling people how they feel. High Extroversion is observed as attention seeking and domineering. People who are low in extroversion (or introverted) tend to be more reserved and have to expend energy in social...
