Personal Awareness Paper

14 November 2014

Throughout our lives as a Christians we face many tasks that may seem impossible to complete, and many times the task that is at hand is as simple as obeying God’s Will. God has blessed each and everyone of us with an ability or abilities of some sort. These are the things that we may find natural that no one else ever could. They can include singing, the playing of instruments, or even the ability to speak in a public setting. While we are all blessed with certain abilities that anyone could ultimately master, we are also blessed with certain Spiritual Gifts that are unique to each and every ...view middle of the document...

Many people are blessed with both natural abilities as well as several Spiritual Gifts. It is important to know what the difference is between an ability and a Gift. Abilities are something that you are either born with, or have developed such a strong desire that it becomes a part of who and what you are. A Spiritual Gift on the other hand is something that God has given you that no one else can. It is something that one will be able to use to further the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible contains a vast list of Spiritual Gifts that vary in degree from administration to remediation. The wonderful thing about Spiritual Gifts is that not every person has the same one. That is what makes every person unique.

In my life God has blessed me with numerous natural abilities. Those which I feel are important to the Ministry are ability to write, compose, play, and sing Gospel Music. Being able to play the piano in church is a blessing to me if not for anyone else. Not having any formal musical training it was rough, real rough. One day I felt led by the Lord to go and sit down at the piano. Not knowing anything whatsoever about one, I will admit doubt was prevalent. However, thanks be unto God when I began to play, it just came completely natural. I claim this as a natural ability because, it is something that is a part of the natural world that in turn allows one to potentially have a part in advancing the Kingdom of God. On top of the ability to play music, God has allowed me to pen many songs, and has also given me the ability to sing what I write. Sometimes people lose sight on what it is all about. I pray that I always remember where my abilities come from.

On the same token, God has also chosen to bestow upon me many Spiritual Gifts. The Lord called me into the Gospel Ministry in 2012, however I chose to run from it until just quite recently. During that time I became aware of a lot of things. The most important thing is that if God wants you to do something you might as well just go on and do it. There is no sense in running away from something that will bring you so much blessing. Not only has God called me into His ministry, He has gifted me with the ability to show mercy. So many people are not able to show such a thing as mercy. I don’t understand why. Every person that has ever accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, has received mercy like no other. God so richly blesses us each and every day. There is no way that we could ever repay Him for the things that He has done for each one of us.

When God began to deal with me regarding the Gifts He has placed upon me, I was scared to death. I think if it is something that He has called us to do we should all be scared. If you feel worthy of serving God then chances are that you need to get right with Him. We should not ever feel worthy of anything that He has given us. Even though I was scared, I knew that if it was God’s will for these...
