I. Executive Summary
Name of the product:
Good nutrition through the feeding of organic feeds accurately provides the needed building blocks for full lean muscle growth and development. Growth in young pigs consists mostly of bone and muscle, but as the pig grows older, fat deposition occurs at an increasingly faster rate. The effectiveness may be on chickens, cats and fishes at the same time. This justifies the need for a multi-phase feeding program. Each diet in the multi-phase feeding program is needed to make sure that the required nutrients per stage of growth are supplied, no more no less. This way, muscle deposition is maximized while fat ...view middle of the document...
It saves money.
c. Lower Capital Requirement
d. Accessibility of Resources
e. Produces Good Quality Meat
Because of the materials used, pigs which are treated with organic feeds have less fats and more meat. The minerals and nutrients derived from the product are naturally produced.
f. Rely on Renewable Resources in Locally Organized Agricultural Systems
g. Utilization of Resources from the Environment
Ilocos Norte is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region. Its capital is Laoag City and is located at the northwest corner of Luzon Island, bordering Cagayan and Apayao to the east, and Abra and Ilocos Sur to the south. Ilocos Norte faces the South China Sea to the west and the Luzon Strait to the north. Due to its geography, agriculture is the main way of living.
The province specializes in the following products and industries:
* Agriculture - rice, corn, garlic, legumes, root crops, tobacco, and other fruits and vegetables
* Fishery - tilapia and assorted fishes
* Livestock - swine and cattle
* Cottage industries - loom weaving, furniture, ceramics, iron works
* Manufacturing and food processing - salt, empanada, bagoong, patis, basi (native Ilocano wine), vinegar, longganisa, chicharon, bagnet, chichacorn (cornick), jewelry, garments, cereal processing, packaging, mechanized processing equipment
* Wind Power Ilocos Norte's position on the northwest corner of Luzon makes it ideal for wind power generation. There is currently a 25 Megawatt wind farm in Ilocos Norte, and several more wind energy projects are being planned
The number of hog growers in the region is declining. It can no longer sustain the demand of customers. One of the reasons why hog entrepreneurs are shifting to another form of livestock such as chickens, goats and the like or even stop growing or rising pigs in their house is the very high price of commercial feeds. One of the sentiments of the growers is that the money they have spent or invest for the feeds was very high yet the profit is very low or sometimes not all (creates loss). The product is dedicated to the Ilocano hog growers. Organic feeds are not yet at its peak. They still embrace the commercially produced feeds. It gives them an opportunity of cost-reducing but profit-maximizing alternative with the main objective of meeting the demands for high quality meat.
A. Production Process
Creation of organic feeds tends to provide a healthy, good-quality meat that maximizes profit for the farmers or hog growers. The transformation of inputs (the available natural resources which can be seen around the farm) into a great output (cheaper in price yet presents a better one than the commercial feeds) required in the market. As the procedure starts, organic feeds needed raw materials that can be seen around growing and can provide a healthy living; and components such as (1) water spinach or swamp cabbage...
