Optimism and Health Paper
Those who are optimistic “anticipate the best possible outcome (Merriam-Webster, 2009).” Optimistic people have a unique approach to their life and its circumstances. Studies have been done to see if optimism results in improved psychological wellbeing and improved health. The cliché is that optimists see a glasses half-full rather than seeing it as half-empty. An optimist will always look for the positive in any situation. They are willing to find something good about circumstances that others may shy away from. According to these findings, high ABP levels can be used as a predictor of hypertension and cardiovascular issues.
It is my interpretation that these results are valid and reliable. They can help us evaluate the health differences revealed in optimists and pessimists. There is a clear correlation between ABP and levels of optimism and pessimism. I would say that, based on this study, it is clear that optimism exerts a positive direct effect on health and wellbeing. High ABP is already known to have severe negative consequences, so it would be a good conclusion to say that optimism exerts a positive influence on health.
