Operation management is an integral part of any organization. Success of an organization depends on effective and efficient management as it is the core part of overall management of the organization. As an operational manager of IKEA a vast knowledge over importance, functions of operational management for an organization and evaluation by using process models described.
1: Operations management is a set of some managerial activities. Mahadevan (2010) said that it means the activities that are related with the proper management of resources used for production and distribution of products and services. It is used for making the highest level of efficiency within the organization. It is also a part of management that designs, controls the production process of an organization so that it can produce using its efficiency.
Operation management is important for all kinds of organization. IKEA is a world largest furniture manufacturer in the world. It runs its business throughout the world. As a large organization IKEA needs more reliance on operational management, so it has more importance on operation management. The importance of operational management for IKEA is described follows.
Innovation is important for any kinds of business. Brennan and Krohnar (2006) stated that innovation helps a business to be in competition by providing the customers new products. Through a better operation management IKEA will be able to make new product.
Timely production helps the producer to deliver products in time and the customers to get products in time. Operational management in IKEA thus accelerates the efficiency of the organization.
Safety is an essential element when a production process is running. Operation management ensures the way of proper safeguard to the employee of IKEA.
Schneider (2003) narrated that law and order situation must be prevailed in the organization to run the organization smoothly. Operation management makes the way of a smooth running of the organization by protecting the organization from disruption.
Through operational management the organization is able to produce good quality products and services. That ultimately increases the revenue of the organization like IKEA.
