Again if one places on hands on mouth or nose and fail to wash one’s hand before touching utensils or equipment then these organisms are passed on. * Urine and faeces can be spread through poor hygiene practices – not washing of hands after use of the toilet. * Handling of blood and body fluids without the use of gloves – and failing to wash hands and disinfect them before handling other utensils and food is prime example of poor practice. * Other examples are body piercing, sharing infected razors, toothbrushes or needles.The conditions needed for micro-organisms to grow such as viruses, fungi and micro-organisms, these would require nutrients and oxygen to survive. Moisture is also required for the survival of certain types of micro-organisms, e.g. bacteria. Given time bacteria can multiply every 15 minutes. It grows rapid at 37 degrees centigrade.There are a number of ways that an infective agent might enter the body, these are: * Airborne – inhalation – dust, droplets from coughing and sneezing. * Indirect – not washing of hands after use of equipment, use of toilet, handling of body fluids, and then handling of foods and ingestion.
