For starters, a clear issue would be if you were to hire an individual that possessed the leadership skills your company is looking for but this person was not that familiar with your industry. Sometimes companies will hire from outside the company to get a fresh pair of eyes for their operation. I would work with this customer service manager and show them how to handle the complaints and then have them work with his or her crew on handling these complaints in a proper manner.
