This paper develops to explain the various motivation theories with their classification. The fundamental premise of the theories are that moral engagement is the main determinant of people’s intention to start social ventures. The paper uses the explanation of my own success to get admission in Dhaka University.

I would like to express my deepest thanks Mr. Masudur Rahman , Course teacher of "Principle of Management" Dhaka University, who permitted me to prepare this assignment and helped me in every way to make the assignment.


This is paper attempts to discuss briefly about the motivation & various recognized theories. Then continue by explaining what inspired the theories in my personal life to admission in Dhaka University. Motivation is an abstract construct that cannot be seen or directly measured but can be felt and believed. It can be summarized as the amount of effort and energy that a person will expend to achieve a goal which depends on the value they place on the goal. Evidence from the Working in Bangladesh survey suggests that levels of satisfaction are declining with workers less satisfied with work today than ten years ago. Satisfaction has declined especially in the areas of pay, prospects and training.

There are many motivation theories. Each motivation theory attempts to describes what human being are and what human beings can become. For this reason, it is customary to say that a motivation theory has content in the form of a particular view about people. The content of a motivation theory helps us understand the world of dynamic engagement in organizations everyday. Since motivation theories deal with people’s development, the content of a motivation theory also helps managers and employees wrestle with the dynamics of organizational life.

Finally I reach the conclusion that not only for a successful manager but also to success in the life motivation theories have a definite role. These are simple but powerful concepts that can help us understand, develop and utilize human potential.

Motivation is a process that starts with a physiological or psychological need that activates a behavior or a drive that is aimed at a goal. Another way it may define as Motivation is a human psychological characteristic that contributes to a person’s degree of commitment. It includes the factors that cause channel and sustain an individual’s behavior.
