McDonald’s retail outlet resemble a machine in the way that it represents a specialization within their products. Specialization meaning that every part of the machine has a certain functions that create a final product, such as there salads all the way to their burgers they each have a certain function that needs to be done before the product is ready to be served to the customer. Another one is that McDonald’s signifies is predictability through their logos and their consistency. In a way, where when someone hears or sees a McDonalds, they visually recollect the golden arches that mean a McDonalds in near them. Second principle, scientifically select, train, and develop each employee rather than passively leaving them to train themselves. In which, they do very well with their employees because they train them in everything from how to take the order down, to how to work a deep fryer, to how to cook every meat or anything else that has to get cooked. You can tell when you see everyone working that McDonalds trained each employee on how to work everything and they just didn’t let them learn on their own. Third principle, provide "Detailed instruction and supervision of each worker in the performance of that worker's discrete task." This is done also, well because all the employees know what they have to do because they have been given the instructions to do that certain job that they are doing. As well because even if they need help in that area there is someone there that knows how to do that job better to help them out. Fourth principle, divide work nearly equally between managers and workers, so that the managers apply scientific management principles to planning the work and the workers actually perform the tasks. They a great job with this because you can tell that the work is equally divide between the managers and workers. In a way where the managers take care of all organization work while the restaurants employees are only responsible with all the implementation of predefined codes, procedure, and responsibilities. You can clearly, see that there is a split between the “brain” and “hand.” Another method is Max Webber’s theory which is either known as the hierarchical structure or the bureaucratic management theory, which outlines the principles of an ideal bureaucracy. The first principle, which is a formal hierarchical structure. In which, they do have because you have the owner of the store that runs the managers that are under them and the managers run the employees that under them. In which, every level is already has the plans and the decisions of what gets done because the level above has told them what the plan and the decisions that have done are. The second principle, is management by rules, which is done when the rules have been by the store owners that all the lower level employees to follow them and make sure that all the rules executed the right way. The third principle, is organization by functional specialty, which is done very well because everyone that works there is doing a job that they were train to do, so you don’t see the cashier by the deep fryer because that is not where there skills are at. The fourth principle, an "up-focused" or "in-focused" mission, which to me it seems like in-focused mission because McDonalds is meant to earn high profits and to gain the market share. The fifth principle, is purposely impersonal, which I saw that they all did very well. All the employees treated each other equally as well with all the customers that day no one was treated different because they had a different opinion than someone...
