Mary Barnett left Chicago on January 23 to travel to
San Francisco, California. She went to California to visit her fiancé.
Alison, Mary's six month old daughter was
left unattended for seven days, in which Mary
came to know that her six month old daughter
died of dehydration. Mary has stated
that she knew that she was leaving her daughter behind but did not think that she would return as she knew that Alison will die in a day or two. Mary has been charged with second degree murder, which is intentional murder without any premeditation.

" She states herself that she knew what she was doing. She had her trip all planned out she had airline tickets reserved, she met her mother and tried to find a babysitter but was not able too.
The problem is if she is mentally ill then how can she be able to reserve her airline tickets, meet her mother and through parties in her apartment. And if Dr. Bloom knew that Mary is mentally ill as she was not capable of even standing in trial then how can some as her be able to take care of a child and has been Dr. Bloom's patient twice a week for the last four months then weren't there certain steps taken to assure that the child is in safe hands and if she is able to take care of Alison on her own or if she needs help. Dr. Bloom even knew that Mary was an alcoholic; she even suffered two anxiety attacks. If all this had occurred then the child should have been taken away from Mary to a safer and healthier place.
