Management Planning
Proper planning permits organizations to develop into the type of business that will meet the needs of the customer, the company, and the environment. As opposed to just focusing on profits, companies need to focus on the need for expertise and experience needed to take on important issues such as legal issues, business ethics, and corporate social responsibility. Management structure helps them accomplish this goal. It is wise to consult professionals experienced in these fields to counsel upper management on these issues. Since the stakes are so high, companies must take on legal issues with an aggressive approach in order to combat the accumulation of costly mistakes. By implementing programs, training, and education, companies will find it easier to deal with any legal issues that may arise. Policies, procedures, and processes can play an important role in bringing all employees up to the standards set by the company in the planning stage. To help accomplish this Boeing has a leadership center in St. Louis, Missouri in which the different levels of management participate in training them in the different areas of EEO, management development, and business ethics (The Boeing Company, 1995–2010).
The Influence of Ethics

By dedicating company funds for employee training hours, Boeing ensures they stay focused on maintaining good business ethics. The aforementioned programs Code of Conduct, Recommitment to Ethics, and the Ethics Challenge are repeated once a year and are on the company’s time and mandatory. Senior members of management coordinate and run the activities. In order to make it easier for new employees to learn the company’s ethics, a 45 page ethics manual called “Ethical Business Conduct Guidelines” is made available to them. This manual includes all the ethical practices of the company and is based on the standards of ethical business in the New York Stock Exchange corporate governance rules.

Companies and corporations can, by what actions they take, strengthen or depreciate the environment and mankind with it. Large companies such as Boeing generally have a lasting effect on humankind and the environment. Since most people have a desire to protect the earth and the environment, companies that disregard their responsibility towards the environment will have to answer to the public for what they are doing to uphold their part of the bargain. A responsible company will understand the value of resources and that the earth, environment, and mankind are all linked together in a symbiotic relationship. A smart company will reflect the wants and needs of, not only the consumer, but also the employees of the respective company. Boeing is one of many companies who openly practice philanthropy while also striving to operate without any negative effects on the environment. A company program called Humanitarian Delivery...
